Five Step Process for Emerging Leaders

Have you ever played the game where you are blind-folded, on an obstacle course, and a group of people are all yelling instructions as you race to reach the finish line? You want to win the race but you don’t know where you are going and you don’t know who is giving you the best directions.

This could be very similar experience since you’ve answered God’s call to ministry. You want to be obedient but God isn’t laying out a detailed plan about what you are supposed to be doing. Depending on how many people you’ve talked to about your call, you are probably getting all kinds of different suggestions about what you are supposed to be doing OR no one seems to be helping you at all.

The first step in your journey is accepting the fact that if God has called you to ministry, you are an emerging leader. He may ask you to be in front of the crowds, in the spotlight, or to work diligently behind the scenes. Either way, your ministry service will entail leading others.

Wouldn’t it be easier to have someone walk beside you, holding your hand during the blind-fold game, who knew the obstacle course and could lead you with ease to the finish line? That’s what the KALEO Network seeks to accomplish in your life. The Network uses a coaching process that encourages you to have a purposeful relationship with someone who is already in ministry and has been right where you are. These coach/mentors are ministry leaders who want to assist you to answer God’s call successfully.

Here’s how they are going to do that:

    1. They want to get to know you and hear what God is doing in your life.
    2. They want to determine if the two of you are a “good fit” for a coach/mentor relationship. If not, that’s OK. They can assist you in finding a ministry leader who will be a good fit for you.
    3. They want to meet with you monthly to assist you in your call to ministry.
    4. They will assist you in developing skills, gaining knowledge and experience that will improve your preparedness for ministry.
    5. They will evaluate your development progress and determine your next steps with you.

Here’s the best part: Your ideas, thoughts, questions and concerns are very important each step of the way. The coach will listen to you and your ideas. After all, the role of the coach/mentor is to assist you in answering God’s call successfully.

Now, what steps should you take? The Five Step Process for Emerging Leaders will guide you through the responsibilities that relate specifically to you. This is where you start the process.
